Greenfield highway opened to link Amaravati ORR and Harbour

The Union government approves preliminary sanction for a ₹1,400 crore greenfield national highway connecting Nizampatnam fishing harbour to the projected Amaravati Outer Ring Road. The project aims to enhance marine exports and coastal tourism.
The Union government has given preliminary approval for the construction of a greenfield national highway connecting the Nizampatnam fishing harbour to the projected Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR).
The 48-kilometre motorway, designed to boost marine exports and promote area tourism, is projected to cost roughly ₹1,400 crore. Of this, ₹ 300 crore has been set up for land purchase, with the remainder going towards the construction of the roadway and associated infrastructure.
Following an exhaustive feasibility analysis, a consultant group has offered four feasible highway alignments. At 24 locations, the route will cross rivers, canals, and railway tracks. To manage these crossings, the plan calls for the construction of a rail over bridge (ROB) and other high-level bridges.
Furthermore, the roadway is projected to improve tourist access to major coastal destinations like as Suryalanka and Bapatla beaches, hence accelerating regional growth. Local MP T Krishna Prasad stated that the project will considerably enhance the backwards coastal region and achieve better pricing for farmers through improved export logistics.
