IPTS 2025 wraps up with visionary talks on AI and passenger experience

IPTS 2025 brought together aviation experts, innovators, and administrations to investigate AI-driven, sustainable solutions for the future of passenger terminals.
The inaugural Inter Passenger Terminal Show (IPTS) 2025, held on June 11-12 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, ended successfully with forward-thinking conversations on passenger-centric airport development, AI-driven technologies, and next-generation infrastructure. IPTS 2025, hosted by Media Fusion, brought together senior government officials, commercial sector leaders, technology providers, and aviation specialists to support India’s goal of becoming one of the world’s top three aviation markets by 2030.
The event, held in collaboration with Navi Mumbai International Airport and leading players such as Digi Yatra, Dormakaba, and Diamond Engineering, drew over 60 speakers and 60+ exhibitors from key segments of the aviation and passenger terminal ecosystem in ten countries.
Speakers and exhibitors demonstrated AI/ML-driven technology, biometric-enabled access, smart baggage systems, digital security, and passenger experience tools across several sessions. Thought leaders from India and beyond held key discussions about seamless processing, sustainability standards, intermodal connection, and the usage of zero-trust and quantum encryption in future-ready terminals. The programme began with high-level conversations about India’s infrastructure objectives, followed by in-depth looks into smart security architecture, architectural improvements, and technology-driven airport operations. The lecture on “Sustainable Airport Ecosystems” on day two piqued people’s curiosity, providing tangible insights into how airports may reduce carbon emissions while optimising costs and passenger flow.

IPTS 2025 was a vital venue for collaboration, innovation, and global knowledge sharing, especially as India invests over ₹60,000 crore in airport infrastructure by 2027. The speaker lineup featured notable leaders such as Capt. BVJK Sharma, CEO, Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA); Prabhat Mahapatra, COO, NMIA; Hitarth Mankodi, COO, Mumbai International Airport Ltd; Suresh Khadakbhavi, CEO, Digi Yatra Foundation; Jens Reinhard, Managing Director, GATE – German Airport Technology & Equipment Alliance; Sven Deckers, Director – Sustainability, Innovation & Partnerships, Dubai Airports; Dr Sumeet Suseelan, Member, Ministry of Civil Aviation
“India’s aviation sector is not just growing—it is transforming,” said Taher Patrawala, Managing Director, Media Fusion. “With the global debut of IPTS 2025, we brought together infrastructure leaders to drive smarter, more human-centric airport experiences. The event was a call to action for greater collaboration, integration of AI and sustainability, and a renewed focus on the passenger at the centre of it all.”
The rise of AI/ML-powered security and passenger flow, biometric boarding, and smart terminal design were common themes across the talks. With India’s domestic aviation industry becoming the world’s third-largest, IPTS 2025 sought to highlight ideas that combine technology and user experience.
“At Digi Yatra, we believe technology should act as a powerful enabler — seamlessly connecting passengers, systems, and processes,” said Suresh Khadakbhavi, CEO of Digi Yatra Foundation. “Our goal is to create a trusted digital travel ecosystem where identity and movement are frictionless, yet remain centred on the human experience. IPTS 2025 provided a vital platform to engage with policymakers and industry leaders who are instrumental in bringing this vision to scale.”
As India expands its aviation and urban infrastructure goals, IPTS will remain an important forum for thought leadership, innovation displays, and public-private partnerships. The 2025 edition kicked off a lively discussion about the confluence of technology, design, and service in future Indian airports.
