Maharashtra to build 30 lakh affordable homes by 2030
Maharashtra aims to build 30 lakh affordable homes by 2030, focusing on low-income communities, with the use of green technologies and AI-powered advancements.
The Maharashtra Housing Minister, Atul Save, made a historic announcement at the Housing and Infrastructure Summit 2024, that the state will build about 30 lakh affordable homes by 2030, prioritising the lower income and economically disadvantaged populations.
Elets Technomedia organises the conference, which took place in Mumbai and brought together policy experts, business executives, and senior authorities on one stage to talk about important tactics and advancements in urban development.
In his keynote speech, Atul Save states that Maharashtra is dedicated to providing everyone with high-quality, reasonably priced housing. Studies have revealed a roughly 11 lakh house shortfall. This program would assist in bridging the gap between the supply and demand of the housing stock in such a situation.
Valsa Nair Singh, IAS, Additional Housing Chief Secretary, of Maharashtra, while emphasising the importance of affordability and sustainability in her address, says that “Affordability and sustainability are at the heart of every housing project undertaken by the state. Furthermore, she says that the state is committed to bring in green technology and AI-powered innovation into our housing sector to make our cities smarter and more liveable.” Singh also highlights the reduction in complaints about the housing lottery system due to the use of advance technology. The new IHLMS system used for the sale of houses is completely online and keeps no scope for human intervention.
Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, Vice President & Chief Executive Officer, MHADA, speakes about the authority’s long-standing mission and the future of redevelopment in the city.
“MHADA’s 75-year journey is about more than just building homes; it’s about creating communities. We are focusing on cluster redevelopments in congested urban areas, providing modern, sustainable housing while preserving tenant rights. Our upcoming projects in areas like Abhyuday Nagar and GTB Nagar aim to bring transformational change to the city’s housing landscape,” he shares.
Important dignitaries attending the summit, including Anil Wankhede, Dy CEO, Dhiraj Kumar Pandirkar and Shivkumar Aade, Ehief Engineers MHADA, and Milind Borikar, IAS, Chief Officer, Mumbai Board and Mumbai Building Repairs & Reconstruction Board. Their contributions to the talks about green infrastructure, public-private partnerships, and creative finance models gave the day’s events a lot more substance.
Together with representatives from the government, business executives from Raymond Realty and Probity Software shares their ideas for sustainable and reasonably priced homes, demonstrating the significant impact that cutting-edge technology is having on the real estate market.
