Mira Bhayander gets infrastructure upgrade with double-decker flyover

Mira Bhayander’s transport infrastructure gets a significant boost with the opening of a double-decker flyover, which improves road and metro connectivity while reducing congestion.
Mira Bhayander’s road and metro infrastructure were significantly upgraded with the opening of a double-decker flyover, an important component of Metro Line 9. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, and senior officials launched the flyover, which is anticipated to reduce traffic congestion and streamline urban transportation.
The freshly constructed flyover connects Sai Baba Nagar Metro Station near S.K. Stone Junction to Shivar Garden. The shared pier structure, in which the flyover and Metro Line-9 viaduct use the same pillars, is a notable aspect of this project. This space-efficient design improves mobility while optimising infrastructure utilisation.
The 850-metre-long flyover, which has a 2+2 lane highway, bypasses major traffic congestion points such as SK Stone Junction, Kanakia Junction, and Shivar Garden Junction. The infrastructure seeks to drastically reduce travel times and improve daily commutes. The flyover serves metro operations on the second deck, while automobiles use the first. It has RCC anti-crash barriers, reflective signage, speed limit indicators, and rumble strips for safer driving. Furthermore, its sustainable design reduces traffic congestion and fuel consumption, improving urban transportation efficiency. The project strategically connects Mira Bhayander and Dahisar East via Metro Line 9, increasing accessibility.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasised how this infrastructure milestone will improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance the commute experience. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that this initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to developing world-class infrastructure that promotes economic growth and improves urban transport. Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Metropolitan Commissioner, remarked that the MMRDA is committed to constructing future-ready transport systems by combining metro and road networks to improve connectivity.
With metro services expected to begin on the second deck soon, Mira Bhayander is on its way to become a well-connected urban hub, providing commuters with faster, safer, and more efficient travel. MBMC Commissioner Radhabinod Sharma and Maha Metro Chairman Rubal Agarwala (IAS) were also present during the inauguration, which marked a huge stride forward in Mumbai’s regional transportation development.
