Water is the biggest enemy of roads! Water seepage into the subgrade or accumulation on the surface weakens the entire structure. This is why drainage planning must begin from day one. One important strategy we have adopted is ensuring proper slope and camber so that water flows off the surface quickly. Additionally, lined side drains are laid to match the terrain, and outlets are placed strategically to prevent water from pooling or eroding the base. We also use granular sub-base materials that allow controlled water movement without getting washed out. It is important to ensure that drain maintenance continues even after the road is built. Even the best drainage design fails if silts and waste block the outlets.
