PMRDA begins reconstruction of key road in Hinjewadi Phase 2

PMRDA starts critical repairs on the Hinjewadi Phase 2 road following resident appeals, addressing safety, drainage, and connectivity concerns.
The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has begun critical repair and reconstruction work on the main access road in Hinjewadi Phase 2. The stretch, which had become practically impassable due to deep potholes, sinkholes, inadequate lighting, and clogged drainage, has long been a source of concern for locals and commuters. A huge road collapse has compounded the situation, prompting urgent cries for help.
Over 1,000 residents from the Saarthii Sovereign Housing Society, which has nearly 250 flats, have expressed safety concerns, citing issues such as debris accumulation, difficulty of access for emergency vehicles, and daily commute challenges. The society formally petitioned PMRDA for a thorough road overhaul, including adequate resurfacing, lighting, drainage restoration, and the provision of a safer alternate route during ongoing construction.
In response, the PMRDA has begun implementing a temporary bypass to restore access. Chief Engineer Rinaj Pathan indicated that, while short-term connection is addressed, long-term reconstruction plans are being established in collaboration with other authorities. Permanent repairs will begin once the land acquisition process is completed. The renovation is intended to considerably improve access and quality of life for over 10,000 families in the area by restoring safer and more dependable connectivity in one of Pune’s most important IT corridors.
