Sanjeev Jaiswal leads MHADA’s rapid case resolution initiative

MHADA’s ninth Lokshahi Din saw Vice President & CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal address five long-pending cases quickly, providing petitioners with instant relief through timely directions and efficient decision-making.
The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) held its ninth Lokshahi Din, during which Vice President & CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, quickly settled five long-pending cases by providing urgent directions to the relevant officials. With quick decision-making, all five cases were resolved on the same day, giving the applicants immediate relief.
Applicants present at MHADA’s Bandra (East) headquarters expressed delight and appreciation to Sanjeev Jaiswal and the MHADA staff for promptly resolving their issues. During the hearing, Amrut Kore’s case, which had been pending since 2004, was instantly concluded. He has applied to regularise his MHADA flat in Kandivali (West). Jaiswal directed the Estate Manager to finish the apartment transfer by 3:00 PM on the same day. The official complied, and Kore received his regularisation letter on the spot, resolving his long-standing difficulty.
Another case included Fitzgerald Ozario, who applied to transfer a renovated MHADA property in Mumbai Central that had previously been owned by his late mother. The process had stopped due to the absence of an inheritance certificate following the death of one of his siblings. Recognising the urgency of the situation, Jaiswal asked officials to accept an indemnity bond instead of the certificate and ordered that the property be transferred to Ozario’s name immediately. The transfer confirmation letter was issued the same day, addressing an issue that had been waiting for years.
In another case, Mohammad Khan, a winner of the Konkan Board’s lottery’s 20 percent inclusive housing project, was charged an extra processing cost for parking and clubhouse facilities despite not using these amenities. Jaiswal personally intervened, contacting the developer over the phone and demanding an immediate reduction of the additional charges. This brought substantial relief to the applicant.
Similarly, Anil Prabhulkar’s case, involving a flat in Bhaghyodaya Cooperative Housing Society (Kandivali West), was quickly resolved. Despite receiving the property through a gift deed from his brother in 2016, it had not been regularised due to a lack of registration. Jaiswal directed officials to regularise the flat immediately, and the applicant received the official confirmation letter the same day, effectively resolving the situation.
Another significant case was Dilip Suryavanshi, a resident of New D.N. Nagar, Shivneri Cooperative Housing Society, who was awaiting possession of his renovated flat. Jaiswal asked the sub-registrar to issue an immediate order of possession and appoint an authorised official to oversee the proceedings. Following the direction, Sanjay Walunj was appointed as the authorised officer and given seven days to conduct the necessary activity and submit a report.
Aside from these significant situations, other candidates achieved positive results. Deepak Rane, who represents a renovated block in MHADA Colony, New Chikhalwadi, requested that MHADA assume responsibility for the structure’s maintenance. Jaiswal directed staff to complete the transfer formalities per the housing society’s request.
Arun Bhoyar of Kannamwar Nagar, Vikhroli, was additionally erroneously penalised with interest and late penalties despite having paid the requisite maintenance payments. Jaiswal directed the sub-registrar to undertake an audit without holding any additional hearings.
During today’s Lokshahi Din, seven applications were received, increasing the total number of applications to 81 throughout nine hearings. Of these, 75 cases have already been settled, demonstrating MHADA’s dedication to transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly government.
