uPVC is the preferred fenestration choice!

In this conversation, Pradeep Lathia discusses Micro Arcelor’s product portfolio, roofing solutions, and how uPVC is gaining momentum in the doors and windows sector.
Please share a brief of your products and their application areas.
Our primary product is roofing sheets; our portfolio includes door and window reinforcements for uPVC profiles. uPVC has become the preferred choice in several parts of India, making our reinforcements preferred.
What design diversity do you offer in your roofing sheets, and how are they customised to prevent water ingress, reduce noise, and perform effectively in harsh climatic conditions?
Our roofing sheets are predominantly used during monsoon and summer. During monsoon, they protect against direct rainfall and summer from heat. We design and customise our roofing sheets based on feedback from fabricators and end-users in the industry; this ensures superior protection from water ingress and other natural damage. Our sheets are made of GI (galvanised iron) and GP (galvanised plain) coils and are available in various colours like black, white, red, and blue. They also come in thicknesses of 0.45 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.6 mm, and more.

Please let us know the certifications that your products have undergone.
Micro Arcelor is registered with the global UPVC Door and Window International Manufacturer Association (UDWMA). Our products have also received certifications and recognition from Global Patidar Business Organisation in Gujarat.
In which parts of our country have your products received maximum appreciation?
While our roofing sheets are widely used in West and East India, they are yet to be adopted in South India. However, our roofing sheets are best suited for protection against severe heat. uPVC windows and doors are also gaining traction. For example, five years ago, when we started this project and set up the factory, hardly any people in Gujarat used uPVC doors and windows. At that time, these products were mainly used only in North and South India. But in the last five years, this trend has skyrocketed.

Do you think uPVC is superior to aluminium?
A few years back, aluminium was the most used metal, used in almost 90 percent of cases because uPVC was not well known at that time. But the scenario has changed recently, and several companies are moving from aluminium as it can develop rust and corrode. uPVC, on the other hand, is highly sustainable and can be used even in adverse climatic conditions. It can be easily protected and does not rust.
