TEPL to Quadruple its Top Line by 2015

“The year 2010 has been instrumental in the history of Terex in India. Till 2015, TEPL plans for quadrupling its top line from present levels”, says an ambitious Executive Director of Terex Equipment, Vijay Sharma.
 
Mr. Sharma, brief us about Terex Equipment Pvt Ltd and its products offerings.
Terex Equipment Pvt. Limited, subsidiary of Terex Corp., USA, a $ 5 Bil global behemoth in infrastructure machinery space, is a relatively young company that started manufacturing backhoes in 2004 from its 35 acre state of the art facility at Greater Noida, as a 50:50 joint venture between Terex Corporation, USA and Vectra, UK. In Mar 2010, Terex hiked its share to 99 percent in the joint venture bringing in new technical and systems up gradation into the young yet thriving organization. Terex products are acknowledged to be highly productive and reliable, and the company has earned a reputation of working closely with its customers.
 
The new range of backhoe loaders – TLB 740S with 76 hp Kirloskar engine & TLB 844S with 90 hp Kirloskar engine – is a result of continuous up gradation in innovation and technology. In compact loader segment, we are manufacturing HEMAN 175 Skid Steer Loader, having option of 65 hp or 80 hp engine, making us the only local manufacturer in this space in India.  This machine, which has more than 50 standard attachments, is more like an engineering marvel. Further enhancing its product offering to Indian customers, Terex recently introduced RL 4000 Light Towers, which addresses the requirement of construction houses and builders to work efficiently even during night time.
 
What are the advantages of your products?
Terex Backhoes perform faster while digging and loading at lower operating costs, with durability through quality & technology innovation. Highlights of this product are fuel efficiency through unique Smart UC Hydraulics. These products have been developed in India for Indian market from application and maintenance points of view.  These machines are almost completely indigenous. Tougher, stronger structural parts such as boom & dippers, heavy-duty stabilizers with adjustable wear pads have been introduced to achieve longer service life than competition in Indian tough applications. Improved protected hose routings and other hydraulics are designed in segments to achieve lower replacement costs and longer uninterrupted working.
 
Our Skid Steer Loader is known for its compactness, maneuverability, versatility and ease of maintenance. With its wide range of attachments, it can perform in the most demanding conditions and can be termed as perfect profit earning tool. The lighting tower, equipped with advance features like powerful 4,000 Watts of output from Metal Halide lamps, which is enough to illuminate 8 acres of work site, 360 degree tower rotation and 30 ft tower height at full extension, this machine is suitable for all kinds of illumination needs of our customers. 
 
What kind after-sales support you provide?
The company has 49 committed dealers across the India and in neighboring countries. Terex dealers sell, service and provide parts round the clock through a network of over 200 branches and a work force of over 600 trained engineers and technicians. However, Terex is very much committed to enhance its distribution network, especially in those markets where infrastructure activities have picked up in recent times like North- East India.
 
What is annual production capacity?
At present, we have a production capacity of 2,500 machines on annual basis. However, foreseeing the tremendous potential and opportunity available in future, we may plan to ramp up our capacity to address the increasing demand for our products.
 
Can you discuss about your business network?
As mentioned earlier, TEPL has a strong network of 49 main dealerships, 200 branches and a trained workforce of 600 engineers and technicians. We are catering to both Corporate as well as retail customer segment in building, construction and mining industries.  Today, Terex is one of the best known earthmoving equipment manufacturers in India, having a loyal customer base for backhoe loaders and skid steer loaders.
 
As you are going to exhibit in bC India, what are your prime expectations from this event?
We are quite excited about the fact that an exhibition of such stature is being organized in India after a long wait. We expect this show to be a trend setter and provide excellent platform to all the exhibitors to showcase their advance technologies not only to Indian visitors but also our guests from other SAARC nations, South East Asia, China and Middle East. We sincerely hope that bC India 2011 will go a long way in putting India on a global stage.
 
What are the products you are going to showcase?
Terex in India is taking this event very seriously. Hence, we are displaying most of our product range representing all our business segments like construction, cranes, material processing and Ariel work platforms. For the first time in India, all Terex brands including Powerscreen, Genie and Finlay will be showcased under one umbrella.
 
Can you highlight the achievements of your company for the year 2010?
The year 2010 has been instrumental in the history of Terex in India. Our new TLB Backhoe Loader range has been a resounding success in the Indian market and has got positive reviews from our customers. In addition, we also launched our Lighting Tower RL 4000, which is also in strong demand among Construction Houses as well as Builder Community. Addressing the challenge of prompt financing for our products, we also entered into an exclusive agreement with a leading private sector bank of India. In terms of business growth, till November’ 10, we have already exceeded our annual production and sales targets for backhoes and skid steer loaders. With respect to last year, we see a minimum topline growth of 40 to 50%. In skid steer loader segment, we can easily project a market share of approx. 40% this year.
 
What are your prime targets for the coming times?
Till 2015, TEPL has ambitious plans for quadrupling its top line from present levels. To achieve this target, we have already put a strategy in place, which mainly involves introduction of new product line comprising of Soil Compactors, Wheeled Loaders, Site Dumpers, and Midi – Excavators. We are also in process of expanding our distribution network aggressively in order to cater to the needs of our ever increasing customer base.
