Fastest double-decker elevators by Hyundai Elevators

Pune based Kinetic’s JV Partner Hyundai Elevator developed the fastest double-decker elevator of its type in the World which is capable of reaching speed of 600 metres per minute. The Company now plans to complete developing an operating system capable of managing eight double deck elevators by September this year. A double-decker elevator appears like two elevator cars attached to each other. As a result, the elevator visits two floors at the same time, raising the passenger capacity of the shaft. Double-decker elevators are used in tall towers to improve efficiency and bring down energy consumption. Double-decker elevators are typically used for buildings with 40 storeys or more.  Maximum speed of it is up to move 600 metres (1,968.5 feet) per minute – is relatively faster compared to ordinary elevators in high-rise apartments, which travel 90 to 120 metres per minute and are expected to be twice as efficient from the ordinary ones. To increase efficiency further, often double-decker elevators are programmed to stop at only even or odd numbered floors. Speaking on the occasion, Manish Motwani, Managing Director of Kinetic said, “With a vision of developing best and safest people flow, our JV Partner Hyundai Elevator, Korea’s biggest elevator maker in terms of sales, has completed development of this state-of-the-art technology and one of the fastest and safest elevators of its kind.
