Suzlon Group signed two new contracts

Suzlon Group’s UK subsidiary, REpower UK, has marked the new year with signing two new contracts of totalling 16.4 MW. The company will supply wind turbines for a new wind farm at Wear Point in Pembrokeshire, South Wales, as well as the Avonmouth wind farm in south-west England.
Wear Point, jointly owned by infrastructure company John Laing and developer Infinergy, will consist of four MM82 turbines. Construction work at Wear Point will commence in summer 2013 and will be completed towards the end of the year.
The four new turbines at Avonmouth are part of a wider strategy to increase renewable energy at Wessex Water’s sewage treatment works. They will be part of a renewable energy mix of wind and anaerobic digestion which is already in operation at the site.
Rick Eggleston, Managing Director, REpower UK commented: “I am delighted to announce the closure of both of these contracts. 2012 was one of our most successful years to date with nearly 300 MW signed, and these two new contracts represent the perfect start to what we believe will be a very successful 2013. We are pleased to continue our relationship with Triodos Renewables Plc for their Avonmouth Wind Farm, as well as John Laing and Infinergy for the Weir Point development in South Wales we look forward to building on these relationships through 2013 and beyond.”
