WB Govt woos India Inc for investment
During the meeting on Bengal Beckons held at the WTC, Mumbai, Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee captivated the audience with her articulate speech on various opportunities for investment in West Bengal.Ms Banerjee said that the main objective of her visit to Mumbai was to take Mumbai with her to West Bengal and to create the same magic that was created by the enthusiasm of the businessmen such as RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Ashok Hinduja of the Hinduja Group, Godrej Group Head Adi Godrej, ITC Group Chairman Y C Deveshwar and Nitin Paranjpe of HUL. Many other professionals such as the bankers, chairmen of the public sector enterprises and business leaders who had assembled welcomed her in the commercial capital of the country.Ms Banerjee expressed that the strategic location of West Bengal is a gateway to the North East and to the neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal.The chief minister also expressed her keen willingness to support WTC’s proposal for the establishment of a WTC in Kolkata, which could be an ideal platform to invite investors and to promote international trade and investment in the state. Further Ms Banerjee reiterated that her government had transparent functioning and business savvy politics, urging the business leaders to fearlessly invest in West Bengal.
