India signs MoU with Czech Republic to develop rail infra
India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Czech Republic to get expertise in running semi high-speed trains and modernising signalling system of Railways.
The MoU was signed on August 19 between Indian Railways and Czech Railway for technical cooperation in the field of railway sector.
The potential cooperation areas mentioned in the MoU are freight operations, logistics of automotive transport, passenger operations, raising of speeds upto 200 kmph; Infrastructure building and management, station development and workshop modernisation; information and communication technologies especially for passenger amenities; modernisation of rolling stock; and modernisation of signalling and telecom etc. The MoU is valid for a period of three years which can be extended further for successive periods of one year at a time, said a railway ministry official.
