NCB signs MoUs to promote cement industry innovation
NCB collaborates with GCCA India and AIC-Plasmatech to further decarbonisation research and innovative technologies for sustainable cement manufacturing processes.
The National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB), which is part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), signed two significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) at the 18th NCB International Conference and Exhibition on Cement and Concrete. The event, hosted at Yashobhoomi, IICC Dwarka, with the awarding of National Awards for Cement Industry to excellent cement plants and Best Paper Awards for exceptional contributions done during the conference.
One of the MoUs had been signed by NCB and the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) of India, with the primary purpose of furthering decarbonisation research in the Indian cement industry. This agreement, signed by Dr. L. P. Singh, Director General of NCB, and Shri Manoj Rustagi, Director of GCCA India, is consistent with India’s aim to achieve “Net Zero” emissions in the cement sector by 2070. The collaboration intends to use innovative technology and research to reduce the environmental impact of cement production, which is an important step towards developing a sustainable and eco-friendly sector.
Another important MoU was signed by NCB and the AIC-Plasmatech Innovation Foundation, which focusses on the use of Thermal Plasma Torch Technology in cement manufacturing. Dr. L. P. Singh and Dr. Nirav Jamnapara, Director of AIC-Plasmatech, signed the agreement. The collaboration will investigate the integration of modern Thermal Plasma Technologies into cement production processes, which has the potential to revolutionise energy consumption and resource efficiency in the sector.
These collaborations demonstrate NCB’s commitment to promoting innovation and sustainability in the cement sector. NCB seeks to promote transformative breakthroughs in cement manufacture by collaborating with global and domestic organisations to address environmental concerns and ensure alignment with India’s sustainability goals.
The 18th NCB International Conference provides a platform for important partnerships and ground-breaking conversations, solidifying India’s leadership in ensuring a sustainable future for the building materials industry.
