Advanced, holistic fire safety solutions with a strong commitment to sustainability
This interaction explores Siderise’s fire safety solutions, commitment to sustainability, and how they address common challenges during an event of fire. The interaction also delves into the need for passive fire protection in India.
How are your fire safety products tailored for low-, mid-, and high-rise buildings?
Our passive fire safety ranges have been developed and tested to prevent fire spread throughout external wall systems, including curtain walls, cladding, masonry, precast concrete, and composite facades. As critical construction elements, their performance credentials are the same for all our products, ranging from public buildings of a couple of stories to the world’s tallest towers.
How does your product stand apart from its competitors in addressing challenges like high installation and maintenance costs, lack of thermal insulation, and risk of glass breakage?
The Siderise CW Perimeter Barrier and Firestopping System have been designed and tested to go beyond the basic requirements for curtain wall firestopping, delivering a holistic spandrel solution to protect people from fire and future-proof projects against legislative changes. The system inhibits fire spread and helps preserve the performance of the spandrel assembly and, in turn, the curtain wall. The system comprises three core products: CW-FS Firestop, CW-FB Fireboard, and CW-SI Spandrel Insulation. CW-FS Firestop has been designed to allow repeated compression with no loss of recovery/flex, accommodating façade movement. The product can be easily installed in hot, humid, and wet conditions. CW-FB Fireboard and CW-SI Spandrel Insulation are used to shield spandrel panels and mullions.
What, in your opinion, are the factors that are currently driving the demand for passive fire protection solutions in India?
An important factor is that cavity barriers and firestops for preventing the unseen spread of fire and smoke within the concealed space of both ventilated and unventilated external cladding systems are frequently overlooked in India. However, this is slowly changing due to several factors, including India’s rapid development and growing presence on the world stage. An increasing number of building owners, investors, and insurers from overseas are looking to implement passive fire requirements from their own countries within projects here in India.
Where do you see Siderise in this market in the next 5 years?
We want to be the No. 1 supplier of passive fire protection for building envelopes in India and beyond. We are expanding our operations to serve the Asia and Middle East markets, setting up our manufacturing facilities in Dubai to allow us to supply products more efficiently. We also constantly strive to improve our technical services in all our regions.
What are the best practices to ensure the sustainability of the raw materials when manufacturing your products?
We have a clear Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy consisting of four key pillars: planet, people, product, and policy. To ensure the sustainability of raw materials used for the manufacturing of our products, we communicate and dialogue regularly with our suppliers, working together to identify challenges, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement in ESG performance. We aim to achieve a BES 6001 responsible sourcing certification in the near future.
