As India grows and Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities too turn into important hubs of business and economic activity it will be essential to design newer airports all across the nation. Unlike airports designed earlier the newer airports are being designed away from the cities to ensure they have ample space for future expansion. At the same time it is essential to ensure that the design interventions in existing airports being carried out to prepare them for the future addresses the long term concerns of a growing and developing nation like India. The pandemic too has brought to focus newer challenges which future airports need to address by the way of its design as also the use of contactless technologies.
