Alstom – NTPC JV company receives Best Contractor Safety Award [10 Apr 2012]

Alstom and NTPCs joint venture company NASL received the best contractor safety award 2011 for the renovation and modernisation of the NTPC Talchar Thermal Power station.
In January 2010, NASL were awarded the contract for operation and maintenance of 2×110 MW units at Talchar worth Rs. 19 crore by NTPC. The scope of the contract included supply of a full instrumentation package coupled with a new state of the art furnace safeguard and supervisory system (FSSS). The package included engineering, supply, erection and re-commissioning of the burner panel assemblies, oil station and firing system, secondary air damper control and burner tilt control power cylinders, control valves, flame scanner systems and ignitors.
According to statement published by Alstom, “In December 2011, the project reached successful completion with the erection of both the units completed in 41 days against the contract agreement of 45 days. In addition both units managed to achieve the trial run and achieve successful performance guarantee tests within two months of unit synchronisation”.
