Aluminium formwork is the high-performing, sustainable alternative

This interaction provides insight into how aluminium formworks can replace conventional ply in constructing high-rise structures. The discussion also focuses on the safety features offered by these formworks, the technology involved, and how they contribute to sustainability in the long term.

Can you provide a brief overview of your organisation?
We are pioneers in the manufacture of aluminium formwork and operate under the name Eins Technik Formworks. Our manufacturing plant, located in Delhi-NCR, is one of the largest and most advanced plants in India. We have a presence both nationally and internationally and are a leading organisation in terms of size, capacity, and customer base.

What products do you offer, particularly for high-rise construction? And what are the advantages of these products?
Aluminium formwork is one of the most revolutionising technologies that has come up in the last decade for high-rise construction. It addresses critical challenges, such as delays and poor quality of construction, commonly encountered during the construction of high-rise structures. Our product helps builders complete construction quickly and efficiently without compromising quality. Projects built using our product take only one-third time of those built using traditional methods.

Our formwork eliminates plastering, which addresses issues of constant cracking and falling of plasters. RCC partition walls can be easily installed using our formwork, which eliminates the usage of brick and block. This, in turn, ensures a sustainable practice as it does not require excavating mud and earthwork. All these contribute to more durable, seismic-resistant, and accurate construction. Our product is made of aluminium, which is recyclable and ensures sustainability.

How do formworks enhance worker safety at construction sites?
Conventional construction demands scaffolding around the building for external work. Scaffolding systems may be unsafe since not all builders regularly audit them for their performance. On the other hand, our formwork system comes with safety harnesses and external brackets, minimising the risk factor. Also, we design our panels to take up extended loads in emergencies. Our external brackets and accessories are designed to ensure that the formwork always remains intact and there is a clear, continuous path backed by a safety harness, decreasing the chance of any accident close to zero.

What are the recent advancements in technology as far as formwork is concerned?
When you talk about technology, there are two levels: one at the site and one that goes into our production. With respect to production, we have introduced a fully friction-welded aluminium formwork panel, which is the first of its kind in India and the second one globally. Friction welding is 20 times more durable, stable, and accurate. Our innovations focus on design and technology, and we are continuously experimenting with our designs to address even the smallest of challenges. For instance, we deliver materials packed and delivered in a room-wise manner. This addresses challenges in sites where space is a constraint.

What are your measures to ensure sustainability?
To us, sustainability comes in two parts: one through production and the other at the site. Our product is metal-based, which means that it is recyclable. We do not use ply, which reduces the load on trees. We also ensure unnecessary wastage of building material, which reduces the load on excavation, indirectly contributing to sustainability. The friction welding process that we have adopted is smokeless welding. In addition, we have invested in energy-efficient machinery to ensure sustainability in the long term.
