GRT inks multi-million dollar road equipment deal with Wirtgen
Global Road Technology (GRT) India today announced that it had finalised the largest purchase of cold recycling equipment, individual order ever seen in India. The purchase was made from Wirtgen Germany, through its Indian subsidiary Wirtgen India and the equipment will be used to deliver on its multi-million dollar program of new-generation road works in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
“The order win not only enables GRT to effectively deliver on its extensive infrastructure program in India but also will also confirms the Australian road construction and maintenance giant’s commitment in helping the country resolve its chronic infrastructure woes,” the company said.
The purchase includes three Wirtgen WR240 road stabilisers, three Streaumaster automated spreaders, three 20MT pad foot rollers, and three 10MT pad foot rollers.
Ben James, Chief Executive Officer, GRT said, “The equipment will enable us to deliver the scale and the scope of work in short timeframes that has never before seen in India. This is the first time that this advanced technology and its techniques are employed which will bring about a revolution in the way road infrastructure is built in the country. I can assure you that soon India will have long lasting and pothole free roadways.”
GRT is working on projects with the public and private sector in India valued at more than Rs 250 crore. The projects feature GRT’s proprietary polymer technology include construction expressway’s using Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) technology.
“GRT India’s proprietary polymer technology and delivery using the specialised Wirtgen equipment means stronger and safer roads in India that can be delivered more quickly, more cost-effectively, in a more environmentally-friendly manner, and require less maintenance considering specific challenges to the country’s infrastructure, such as India’s monsoons,” the company said issuing a statement.
