“Maharashtra to be a zero load-shedding State by end 2012”
Addressing the industry leaders at the National Council Meeting of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Mumbai, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan indicated that Maharashtra will be a zero load-shedding State by December 2012. He has also assured that improving the industrial climate in the State by boosting infrastructure is a topmost priority on the Government’s agenda.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Government is committed to develop airports and highways in the State and it also aspires to develop trans-harbour link and underground metros. He underlined the need for reforms in the area of urban development and the need for clearing infrastructure projects.
In the 11th Five Year Plan period the growth rate of Maharashtra has been a robust 9.1 per cent and the State now aspires to achieve the growth rate of 11 per cent during the 12th five year plan period. Mr. Chavan also drew attention to the Government’s thrust on addressing issues posing the city of Mumbai such as transportation, drinking water and housing.
