Mumbai Coastal Road expansion kicks off in Goregaon

The ground work for the 1.2-km stretch of the Mumbai Coastal Road project in Goregoan has been initiated by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The Coastal Road, designed to be constructed in six packages between Versova and Dahisar, has a substantial portion traversing both land and creeks under the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) jurisdiction. The 1.2-km segment of Goregaon is part of Package B, which covers a total length of 1.66 km between Bangur Nagar and Mindspace (Malad), and lies outside the CRZ limits. The segment is a significant part of the second phase of the Coastal Road Project. The north phase of the project, encompassing elevated roads, interchanges, and twin tunnels, is designed to link Versova in the western suburbs to Bhayandar.
A site inspection to review the progress of the project was conducted by Abhijit Bangar, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects), on 9th July 2025. He also inspected various other sites connected with the project, including Versova, Andheri, the Lokhandwala interchange, and Malad Mindspace, to assess progress across various components of the mega infrastructure upgrade.
