PM Modi boosts Bihar’s connectivity with new railway projects
Prime Minister Modi launched critical railway projects in Bihar to improve connectivity, reduce congestion, and promote regional prosperity and accessibility.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bihar to inaugurate and lay the groundwork for many critical infrastructure projects, with a particular emphasis on boosting the state’s railway connectivity. The projects, which total more than ₹ 1,740 crore, are intended to improve regional accessibility, reduce congestion, and encourage faster, more dependable transport throughout Bihar.
One of the railway improvements’ highlights is the laying of the foundation stone for the Sonenagar Bypass Railway Line, a critical project worth more than ₹ 220 crore. This new railway line, which runs from Chiralapothu to Bagha Bishunpur in Aurangabad district, intends to alleviate existing transportation bottlenecks and facilitate the smooth movement of products and people throughout the region.
The Prime Minister also announced significant gauge conversion and doubling projects to increase capacity on critical routes, hence boosting service reliability and travel efficiency. Among these, the Jhanjharpur-Laukaha Bazar rail segment and the Darbhanga Bypass will be upgraded to handle additional traffic while minimising delays.
To improve regional access, PM Modi announces new MEMU train services between Jhanjharpur and Laukaha Bazar. These services are projected to improve citizens’ access to jobs, education, and healthcare facilities, solving long-standing connectivity gaps in these areas.
These railway projects demonstrate the Prime Minister’s commitment to boosting Bihar’s infrastructure development and ensuring that increased connectivity benefits the state’s long-term growth. In addition to boosting transportation efficiency, these changes are expected to boost the local economy by giving Bihar inhabitants better access to key services, resulting in a higher quality of life.
