PM Modi launches major airport and infrastructure development projects
With the objective to increase connectivity, improve services, and create jobs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches a number of airport and infrastructure projects.
In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated many development projects and laid the groundwork for them. A number of airport initiatives worth at over ₹ 6,100 crore and various Varanasi development schemes were among the major projects.
Speaking to the audience, the prime minister says that Kashi was celebrating an auspicious milestone and that the opening of the RJ Sankara Eye Hospital will greatly assist the elderly and young people. He emphasises the significance of the airport projects in Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh, especially the Babatpur Airport and the Sarsawa Airport near Agra and Saharanpur. Furthermore, he added at how Varanasi’s services will be improved and jobs will be created by the development projects that include education, skill development, sports, healthcare, and tourism.
Reflecting on his recent involvement in Abhidhamma Diwas, Shri Modi highlights the launch of development projects in Sarnath, the holy site where Lord Buddha preached, valued at billions. He also took pride in giving Pali and Prakrit, which have strong connections to Varanasi and Sarnath, the rank of classical languages. The prime minister reaffirmed his dedication to advancement and the well-being of the city while congratulating the residents of Kashi on their accomplishments.
Shri Modi declares that within 125 days of the government’s creation, work on different schemes and projects worth ₹ 15 lakh crore had already begun, recalling his pledge to work three times harder when given the chance to serve Varanasi. He emphasises that the poor, farmers, and young people were the main beneficiaries of the budget. He made a comparison between the frauds that were covered in newspapers ten years ago and the current emphasis on development. The prime minister underlined that the administration is committed to making sure public funds are handled responsibly and in the best interests of the populace.
The government began a massive infrastructure program over the past 10 years with the goal of enhancing public services and generating jobs. The prime minister gave examples of new railway lines, airport development, and contemporary roadways, all of which improve public convenience and encourage the creation of jobs. The highway near Babatpur Airport, for example, has improved tourism, industry, and agriculture in the area in addition to making travel easier. “Babatpur Airport is already expanding to increase its flight-handling capacity,” he says.
Shri Modi also pointed out how India’s quickly expanding network of contemporary airports is recognised around the world. India now has more than 150 airports, including those undergoing renovations, compared to just 70 in 2014. Airports in locations like Aligarh, Moradabad, Shravasti, and Chitrakoot finished new facilities last year, he remarks. Ram worshippers are already arriving at Ayodhya’s international airport every day. Once derided for its crumbling roads, Uttar Pradesh is now referred to as the “state of expressways” and has the most international airports, with the massive new airport being built in Jewar, Noida, among others. Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister and deputy chief minister were commended by Shri Modi for their commitment to the state’s progress.
Shri Modi, who represents Varanasi in Parliament, states he was pleased with the city’s pace of development. He restated his goal of making Kashi a model city for urban growth where tradition and advancement live side by side in harmony. According to him, Kashi is currently recognised for the magnificent Baba Vishwanath Dham, the Rudraksh Convention Centre, and significant construction projects like Ganjari Stadium and the Ring Road. Visitors are enthralled by the city’s broad avenues and stunning Ganga ghats, while contemporary amenities like ropeways further improve convenience.
The Prime Minister emphasised continuous initiatives to establish Purvanchal and Kashi as important commercial and trade hubs. He adds Varanasi and Chandauli will greatly benefit from the building of a new rail-road bridge over the Ganga that would include a six-lane highway and railway lines. Shri Modi additionally highlights that Kashi is becoming into a significant sports hub, with the new Sigra Stadium providing state-of-the-art facilities for athlete preparation for everything from national tournaments to the Olympics.
Shri Modi emphasises the government’s focus on women’s empowerment through programs like Mudra Yojana, which has made financing for millions of female entrepreneurs possible, and the significance of empowering women and youth for the advancement of society. The prime minister mentioned that women are even learning to fly drones and that initiatives are being made to establish “Lakhpati Didis” in rural areas. He underlines those millions of women, including those in Varanasi, are getting their own homes as a result of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He promises that people without homes under the PM Awas initiative will soon get them thanks to the government’s plans to build an additional three crore dwellings. Women’s lives will also be made easier by new programs like the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme.
Shri Modi concluded up by praising Kashi’s rich cultural legacy, which includes the knowledge centre of Sarnath and the famous Jyotirlinga of Lord Shankar. Varanasi’s development has seen extraordinary work, something that hasn’t seen in decades. He mentions the magnificent Ram temple in Ayodhya as well as other noteworthy accomplishments, such as the abolition of Triple Talaq, the creation of a constitutional Backward Class Commission, and the historic reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha, in order to reaffirm the government’s commitment to progress without discrimination.
The Prime Minister promises to elevate young, politically unaffiliated people into key positions and urged the youth of Kashi to take the lead in a new political movement that opposes dynasty politics.
