PM Modi to inaugurate and launch key infrastructure projects in Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches major infrastructure projects in Varanasi, improving connectivity, power, education, and public amenities throughout the city.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for multiple infrastructure projects worth over ₹3,880 crore in Varanasi, strengthening the city’s road network, energy grid, public services, and cultural spaces.
Focused on enhancing connectivity, the Prime Minister will launch road infrastructure works worth over ₹980 crore, including a bridge linking Varanasi Ring Road with Sarnath, flyovers at Bhikharipur and Manduadih, and a highway underpass near Varanasi International Airport on NH-31.
In the power sector, two 400 KV and one 220 KV substations in Jaunpur, Chandauli, and Ghazipur will be inaugurated, alongside foundation works for substations in Varanasi and Ghazipur, totalling over ₹1,045 crore. A ₹775 crore expansion of Varanasi’s electricity distribution system is also part of the rollout.
To support law enforcement, new barracks, a transit hostel, and administrative buildings for police stations will be developed. In education, the Prime Minister will inaugurate new government colleges, rural libraries, and Anganwadi centres. He will also lay the foundation for renovating 77 schools under the Smart City Mission and expand the Kasturba Gandhi School in Cholapur.
For sports infrastructure, a synthetic hockey turf with floodlights and a gallery will be developed at Uday Pratap College, along with a mini stadium in Shivpur.
Additional projects include the redevelopment of Samne Ghat and Shastri Ghat, 130 drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Transport Nagar upgrades, a 1 MW solar plant at WTP Bhelupur, MSME Unity Mall, and the beautification of parks and public spaces.
The event will also feature social initiatives, including Ayushman Vay Vandana card distribution for senior citizens, GI certificate presentations for local crafts, and ₹105 crore in bonuses to dairy farmers affiliated with Banas Dairy. After Varanasi, PM Modi will head to Anandpur Dham in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashoknagar district.
