PM Modi to launch Pune Metro and ₹22,600 crore projects in Maharashtra

Prime Minister Modi will introduce multiple development initiatives in Pune, including Metro expansion and supercomputing projects, totaling ₹22,600 crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate several development projects totalling more than ₹ 22,600 crore in Pune in addition to cutting the ribbon on a Metro train. According to an official release, the Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase-1) would be completed with the opening of the Pune Metro segment of the District Court to Swargate. The subterranean portion between Swargate and the District Court is estimated to have cost ₹ 1,810 crore.

In Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata, these supercomputers have been set up to support innovative scientific research. Utilising the supercomputer, the Giant Metre Radio Telescope (GMRT) located in Pune will investigate astronomical phenomena like as Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs). Research in areas such as atomic physics and material science will be improved by the Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) in Delhi.

It further stated that the S N Bose Centre in Kolkata will spearhead cutting-edge research in fields like physics, cosmology, and earth sciences. The prime minister will unveil a high-performance computing (HPC) system designed specifically for weather and climate research during his visit to the state that is headed for elections. This project, which has cost ₹ 850 crore, marks a substantial advancement in India’s processing capacity for meteorological applications.

This HPC system has exceptional computing capability and is housed at two important locations: the National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecast (NCMRWF) in Noida and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) in Pune. The names “Arka” and “Arunika,” which refer to the new HPC systems’ ties to the Sun, were revealed, the statement states.

Modi will introduce a number of projects in the natural gas and petroleum sectors valued at ₹ 10,400 crore. These projects will concentrate on energy, infrastructure, cleaner mobility, future sustainability, truck and taxi driver safety and convenience, and energy. At Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra, Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab, Songadh in Gujarat, and Belagavi and Bangalore Rural in Karnataka, he would introduce wayside amenities for truck drivers to facilitate convenience of driving.

Aiming to provide truckers and taxi drivers with a comfortable break during their long drives, wayside amenities like reasonably priced boarding and lodging, hygienic restrooms, secure parking, a cooking area, WiFi, and a gym are being developed at a cost of approximately ₹ 2,170 crore at 1,000 retail locations.Modi will unveil a number of other projects, including the groundbreaking of Bidkin Industrial Area, a groundbreaking undertaking spanning 7,855 acres under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program of the Indian government, located 20 km south of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra.

 With its enormous potential, the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor project might become a thriving economic centre for the Marathwada region. This project, which would be developed over the course of three phases at a total cost of around ₹ 6,400 crore, has been authorised by the Central government, it added.
