Prime Minister Modi unveils railway and housing projects in Jharkhand
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates railway projects, introduces Vande Bharat trains, and supports housing construction in Jharkhand through PMAY-G.
Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, establish the foundation stone and dedicated several railway projects worth more than ₹ 660 crore to the country in Tatanagar, Jharkhand, via video conference. He also handed out approval letters to 32 thousand Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) participants. Earlier that day, Shri Modi used video conferencing to kick off six Vande Bharat trains at Tatanagar Junction Railway Station.
The Prime Minister began his speech by bowing to Baba Baidyanath, Baba Basukinath, and the land of Lord Birsa Munda. He emphasises the auspicious occasion of Karma parv in Jharkhand, which is dedicated to nature worship, and highlighted his reception at Ranchi airport today, where a woman handed him with a Karma parv emblem. He says that ladies desire for a prosperous life for their brothers as part of the Karma parv. He sent his warmest wishes on the auspicious occasion, saying that Jharkhand has been blessed today with six new Vande Bharat trains, development projects worth more than ₹ 600 crore, and pucca dwellings for the state’s people as part of the PM Awas Yojana. Shri Modi complimented the people of Jharkhand on their current projects, along with other states that have received Vande Bharat connection.
The Prime Minister remembers a time when modern development was limited to a few states and cities, leaving states like Jharkhand behind, and emphasised how the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ had revolutionised the nation’s mindset and priorities. “The country’s priorities are its poor, tribals, dalits, deprived, women, youth, and farmers,” the Prime Minister says. The Prime Minister states that, every city and state needs a Vande Bharat train to improve connectivity. He recalled flagging off three new Vande Bharat trains for Indian states in the north and south a few days ago, as well as six new Vande Bharat trains today that have already begun their journey. Prime Minister Modi emphasises that expanding rail connectivity in Eastern India will boost the region’s economy and greatly benefit businesses, professionals, and students.
Speaking about the increased cultural activities as a result of the six new Vande Bharat trains, the Prime Minister says that with the introduction of the Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat, a large number of pilgrims from India and around the world will now be able to visit Baba Baidyanath in Deoghar. He states that it would enhance tourism in the region while also encouraging Tatanagar’s industrial development, resulting in new job possibilities for young people. “Modern railway infrastructure is imperative to fast-paced development,” Shri Modi explains, highlighting the different development initiatives.
He emphasises building the groundwork for the Madhupur Bye Pass route in Deoghar district, which will help to avoid train delays on the Howrah-Delhi mainline and reduce travel time between Giridih and Jasidih. He also mentions the Hazaribagh Town Coaching Depot in Hazaribagh district, which will aid with the management of coaching stocks at this station. He stated that the doubling of the Kurkura-Kanaroan line will improve rail connectivity in Jharkhand and strengthen connections to the steel industries.
The Prime Minister added that the Centre was increasing investment and accelerated development efforts in Jharkhand to ensure the state’s overall progress and development. Shri Modi further says Jharkhand receives more than ₹ 7,000 crore in this year’s budget to strengthen the state’s railway infrastructure, which was 16 times more than the budget allotted ten years ago. He also highlights the benefits of boosting the railway budget, such as the development of new lines, electrification of existing lines, doubling of existing lines, and the development of new station facilities. Shri Modi appreciates Jharkhand for being one of the few states with fully electrified railways. Shri Modi highlights that the Amrit Bharat Railway Station initiative is revitalising over 50 railway stations in Jharkhand.
The Prime Minister emphasises that the first installment of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) began right now, which will provide pucca dwellings to thousands of beneficiaries. He mentions that in spite of PMAY-G, other services such as toilets, drinking water, power, and gas connections were provided. Shri Modi pointed out that when a family owns its own home, its self-confidence grows. He went on to say that when they stabilise their current situation, they begin to plan for a better future. Shri Modi claims that the PM Awas Yojna is creating thousands of jobs in Jharkhand’s rural and cities, including pukka dwellings.
The Prime Minister emphasised that since 2014, numerous substantial initiatives have been taken to empower the country’s impoverished, Dalit, underprivileged, and tribal households. He spoke about the PM Janman Yojana, which is being implemented for the tribal communities across the country, including Jharkhand. Shri Modi stated that attempts are being made through this initiative to reach the most backward tribes, and officials are personally reaching out to such families to give them with housing, roads, electricity, water, and education.
He states that such initiatives are part of the government’s plans for a developed Jharkhand. In conclusion, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that these resolutions will be implemented and Jharkhand’s dreams will become a reality with the people’s blessings. He also apologises to the people of Jharkhand for being unable to attend the event due to adverse weather circumstances that limited the mobility of his chopper, forcing him to inaugurate and lay the groundwork for today’s initiatives via video conferencing. Shri Santosh Gangwar, the Governor of Jharkhand, and Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, attend the event.
