Rs. 50 Cr waterway link for Kochi airport
The international airport at Kochi will be the first airport in India to get direct waterway connectivity to a major seaport. According to the State Waterway Minister, PJ Joseph the work on the proposed project is expected to start very soon. Once completed, the Rs.50 crore will enable flyers to travel by boat to the city thereby saving time and money as the government plans to connect the airport with high powered jetty through the waterways. The Cochin International Airport Ltd has decided to invest Rs.3 crore in the project. The waterway connectivity, which is scheduled to be completed within 18 months, will give a great fillip to the proposal of the airport company in its efforts to set up a cargo village by the side of the airport.
