Star Cement Ltd is developing a clinker and grinding facility in Assam with ₹3,200 crore investment, which will stimulate industrial growth and increase cement production in the region.
Star Cement Ltd plans to invest ₹3,200 crore to develop a cement clinker and grinding factory in Assam. The firm and the state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the final day of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025, as announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Star Cement’s investment will provide a significant boost to Assam’s industrial sector, increasing the state’s attractiveness to key industry players. Star Cement, based in Meghalaya, is a leading maker of high-quality cement products such as Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) and Ordinary Portland Cement. The corporation has several manufacturing facilities and a robust distribution network throughout the northeastern region and beyond.
In addition to Star Cement’s commitment, the Assam government executed an MoU with Matheson Hydrogen Lvt Ltd for a ₹1,500-crore hydrogen and steam generation project. Global Health Ltd reached a ₹500-crore agreement, while ITE Education Service signed two non-financial MoUs.
Chief Minister Sarma expressed gratitude for the corporate investments and announced that more agreements would be signed during the day. On the first day of the summit, 164 MoUs were signed in 15 industries, demonstrating great investor confidence in Assam’s economic potential.
Star Cement’s expansion is consistent with its overall growth plan, which focuses on infrastructure development, sustainable practices, and the use of sophisticated technology in cement manufacturing. With a focus on quality, customer happiness, and environmental responsibility, the company has solidified its place as a major participant in India’s cement sector.
