Telcon rechristened Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery Company

Construction and mining equipment manufacturer Telcon has been rechristened Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. Ltd. In the joint venture, Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Japan, holds 60 per cent stake while Tata Motors holds the remaining 40 per cent.
Telcon, originally a division of Tata Motors, has been in the forefront of the construction equipment business since the early 60’s. A technical collaboration with Hitachi Construction Machinery Limited (HCM), Japan  started in 1984 for the manufacture of world-class hydraulic excavators in India. The construction equipment business was made an independent entity in 1999 and over the years HCM acquired 60 per cent stake in this entity.
According to the company, “The announcement of the new brand identity marks an important milestone in shaping the future trajectory of the company. The dynamic composite mark captures strength and vitality of two powerful brands – Tata and Hitachi.”
