Mixed experience for building solution market
“The progress has been heartening on account of repeat business from our major customers,” says Manish Garg, President, Everest Industries
For Indian building solution, 2012 was a mixed experience. Domestic business did well, and private sector demand remained robust. However, slowdown in infrastructure projects affected the market a little bit. Manish Garg, President, Everest Industries Ltd., shares his first-hand experience of the market.
Heartening 2012Our order bookings went up by 25 per cent as compared to previous year, and sales went up by about 10 per cent, the progress has been heartening on account of repeat business from our major customers.
Significant projects in last one yearWe have done various projects during last one year, such as a five-storey building for IIT Mumbai with 60,000-square-feet area; a manufacturing facility for Parle Agro with 120,000-square-feet area; a factory for Mann and Hummel, a German multinational at Bawal, Haryana with 95,000-suare-feet area; and buildings for Ranbaxy, Wockhardt, Godrej, Cadbury, Jeumont, and Kalpana Industries. We have completed more than 200 projects last year.
Creating engineersAcute shortage of trained manpower for design and execution is a big challenge. Everyone wants ready-made engineers; no one is interested in creating this. Everest is doing a lot in this field by training the raw talents under its unique GET/DET programme where fresh engineers go through a rigorous classroom and practical training in the concerned domain, before being absorbed as engineers.
Everest Industries in coming yearOur target is to double our business in net one year, and we plan to achieve this through organic growth, better use of our capacities, and increase in productivity. We are also working to increase our penetration in the market place.
