Asian Paints and St+art India reveal ‘Dawn of Valour’ project

In recognition of India’s 78th Independence Day, Asian Paints and St+art India present ‘Dawn of Valour,’ which honours soldiers stationed in Tawang.

In celebration of India’s 78th Independence Day and marking a decade-long partnership, Asian Paints and St+art India Foundation have unveiled a remarkable project titled ‘Dawn of Valour’. This initiative pays tribute to the Indian Defence Forces stationed in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, through a series of art interventions that celebrate their bravery and dedication.

‘Dawn of Valour’ is the inaugural project of the newly launched ‘Asian Paints St+art Frontier’ initiative, which is dedicated to honouring the Indian Defence Forces. Over the past decade, Asian Paints and St+art India have created over 450 murals across nearly 30 cities, promoting their vision of making “Art Accessible For All”.

The mural, part of Asian Paints’ Independence Day campaign, is a powerful tribute to the soldiers of Tawang, located on the Indo-Sino border. Created by artist Reshidev R K, the artwork on the Army Helipad Wall captures the soldiers’ commitment amidst the harsh Himalayan conditions. It portrays the heroic feats of Indian Army personnel, including Subedar Joginder Singh, Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, and Major Ralengnao ‘Bob’ Khathing, while also highlighting Tawang’s rich culture with spiritual icons and traditional motifs.

Strategically located near the Tawang War Memorial, the mural is a striking narrative of valour, culture, and the enduring spirit of the Indian Defence Forces. The project also includes a community initiative at the OR (Other Ranks) Mess, featuring artwork that reflects Maharashtra’s heritage and Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s valor. The vibrant murals within the Mess aim to provide a comforting and inspiring environment for the soldiers.

Amit Syngle, Managing Director & CEO of Asian Paints, remarkes, “Our goal at Asian Paints is to bring joy and transformation through art. This collaboration with St+art India marks a significant milestone in our decade-long partnership. Through ‘Dawn of Valour,’ we honour our soldiers and their sacrifices, extending our gratitude and unity.”

Hanif Khureshi, Co-founder & Creative Director of St+art India, added, “Our initiative bridges Tawang’s cultural narratives with the lived experiences of our defence personnel, offering a visual story that honours bravery and cultural heritage.”

Brigadier Vipul Rajput, Commander of the 190 Mountain Brigade, praised the project for recognising the Indian Army’s diverse personnel and their integration with Tawang’s local culture, showcasing the synergy between the military and the community.
