Volvo CE unveils 100-metre demo road

Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) showed customers a new 100-metre demo road cross section when Volvo celebrated its 20th anniversary in India.

In 1998, Volvo started doing business in India. To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Volvo CE hosted events for customers and dealers featuring top executives including Volvo Group CEO Martin Lundstedt and Volvo CE President Melker Jernberg.

The count on us event took place at Volvo CE´s customer centre located in Hoskote, 60 km east of Bangalore. With a focus on road segment product offerings, the company’s Indian team unveiled a full-scale 100-metre demo road to an amazed audience.

“We built this model road to demonstrate what road construction is all about and how Volvo machines are contributing in the process,” said Dimitrov Krishnan, Vice President and Head of Volvo CE India.

The Resource Centre for Asphalt and Soil Training Academy (RASTA), Volvo CE´s road building institute in India, supported the project to ensure the road was completed according to the highest standards.

“It was extremely well received. We normally describe this process with PowerPoint presentations and similar tools but the demo road is a much more effective way of communicating the benefits of our machines,” Krishnan said.
