ACC launches new Green Building Centre in Amritsar

ACC Limited launched its state-of-the-art Green Building Centre (GBC) in Amritsar, Punjab. The centre was inaugurated by Rajiv Kumar, Director Sales- North and Central in the presence of Danish Rashid, Head- Green Buildings Business, Rohit Sharma Head – Sales Unit Punjab, the SU Punjab team, architects, channel partners and government engineers.

This is one of the biggest GBCs in India located on the Pathankot 2–Amritsar National highway and covering an area of approximately 5 acres. Due to the many proposed infrastructural improvements, Amritsar is expected to become a hub of residential, commercial and retail activity in the region. ACC’s new Green Building Centre in Amritsar will play an instrumental role in facilitating the city’s growth and development.

The Green Building Centers are part of a conscious effort towards sustainable construction and optimum utilisation of resources without causing harm to the environment. Superior quality materials are usually manufactured using fly ash bricks while maintaining soil and air quality. These projects are undertaken in rural or semi-urban areas where there is a need for sustainable construction. The areas benefit from the unique business model and the training and employment of thousands of small scale construction workers.

The production of green building materials at GBCs is carried out in a modern production environment with emphasis on quality and service. A quality assurance test laboratory in every GBC ensures thorough quality checks of incoming raw materials and outgoing products. As a result, GBCs produce building materials of superior quality in comparison to traditional materials.
