Adani solar expands its operation in Kerala
Adani Solar, the Adani Group’s solar PV manufacturing unit, announced its plans to expand its commercial activities in Kerala, a state considered to have enormous potential in the solar energy sector.
This expansion will be characterised by the construction of a 225 MW solar power facility in Purapura during the coming year. In addition, a new warehouse has been created in Coimbatore to assist in the speedier delivery of solar panels to Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The development strategy includes a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked with the Kochi-based Almiya Group, a prominent solar distributor, which designates them as Adani Solar’s official partner in Kerala. Adani Solar’s National Sales Head, Cecil Augustine, stated that the business was able to install solar panels for a total of 70 MW in Kerala in 2023, demonstrating the state’s tremendous potential in the solar energy sector. He underlined Adani Group’s aggressive aspirations for further penetration and growth in the area.
Augustine emphasised that Adani Solar’s fully India-made solar panels outperformed rival products on the Asian market in terms of quality and production capability. He stated that the collaboration with the Almiya Group, which has a long history with Adani Solar and was involved in a 45 MW plant project in Tamil Nadu, will greatly expand Adani Solar’s market reach in Kerala.
Adani Solar presently controls 50 percent of the Indian home solar panel market. Augustine observed that Kerala offers significant prospects in this area, with the average cost of a household solar unit being around Rs 1.6 lakh. These systems, which come with a 30-year warranty, have the potential to cut households’ power expenditures to practically nil.
Furthermore, Adani Group is investigating the integration of solar energy solutions at the Vizhinjam International Sea Port, which is being built by Adani Ports. This research is consistent with the group’s larger objective of harvesting solar energy across several infrastructures.
The news represents a key milestone in Adani Solar’s expansion efforts and demonstrates the company’s commitment to delivering renewable energy solutions in India.
