CREDAI joins hands with ADaRSH to promote green buildings [Jan 2012]

In an endeavour to strengthen the green building movement in India and promotion of GRIHA with the members and associates of CREDAI, the Association for Development and Research on Sustainable Habitats (ADaRSH) and Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) signed a MoU in New Delhi declaring that both shall cross-market & facilitate wherever appropriate, each other’s services to promote and accept the GRIHA Rating system as the reference standard for determining incentives, educating and promoting green buildings in India.
Dr. RK Pachauri, Director General TERI and President ADaRSH, said, “To bring about a major change, ratings based on solid scientific principles, architectural techniques and methods that stand the test of times are essential. GRIHA rating is tailor-made to all conditions, which makes it suitable and practical to be used in India”. Lalit Kumar Jain, National President CREDAI was of the opinion that this understanding will facilitate green habitats in the country and ensure quality and knowledge sharing. Both CREDAI and ADaRSH would jointly approach municipal bodies to come up with incentives for green buildings and accept GRIHA as the reference standard for determining the incentives.
