Dow Corning stops manufacturing activities at Pune facility

Dow Corning, an equally owned company by The Dow Chemical Company and Corning Incorporated, has discontinued its manufacturing activities at Ranjangaon facility, Pune effective immediately.

“Dow Corning has taken the difficult but necessary corporate decision to discontinue manufacturing and other activities at its Pune facility. This difficult decision has been taken in order to implement Dow Corning’s global supply chain strategy of utilising alternative options to meet customers’ needs in the India region,” the company informed.

“Dow Corning remains committed to serving its customers in the India region, and will continue to maintain a long-term commercial presence in the country,” a statement issued by the company said. However, Dow Corning has refused to share any further details on its long- and long-term strategies.

Ironically, the plant, located in the MIDC Industrial Park at Ranjangaon, Pune was set up to meet the region’s expanding customer demand for silicon-based products.
