Goa-IDC approves ₹100 crore projects for industrial estates

Goa-IDC is approving infrastructure projects worth over ₹100 crore to improve industrial estates, road conditions, water supply, and digital governance.

The Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC) has approved infrastructure projects exceeding ₹100 crore to enhance facilities within industrial estates across the state. The decision was taken during the board meeting, chaired by State Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho and Goa-IDC Chairman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, along with industry representatives.

Lourenco stated that the corporation’s primary focus this year will be on upgrading infrastructure within industrial estates, ensuring pothole-free roads, and improving water supply systems to meet the growing demands of industries. Notably, white-topping technology will be introduced in Goa to enhance the durability and quality of internal roads within these estates.

Goa has 24 industrial estates, with Verna Industrial Estate being the largest. In a forward-thinking move, Goa-IDC also announced a collaboration with the World Economic Forum to organise an Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshop specifically designed for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This initiative aims to equip local industries with cutting-edge AI tools to enhance productivity and global competitiveness.

Additionally, Lourenco revealed that Goa-IDC has successfully overcome its debt burden, marking a new era of fiscal responsibility and sustainable growth. Another significant milestone from the meeting was the onboarding of over 1,000 industries onto the OPEN (Online Platform for Enterprise Network), a step towards strengthening digital governance and streamlining industrial operations in Goa.

These developments reaffirm Goa-IDC’s commitment to fostering a robust industrial landscape, driving innovation, and improving the ease of doing business in the state.
