GVMC announces 813 ambitious projects for city growth
Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) launches 813 development projects to improve infrastructure, modernise public areas, and promote sustainable development for Visakhapatnam.
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has announced 813 urban development projects totalling ₹185.21 crore. Visakhapatnam Mayor G. Hari Venkata Kumari made the statement during a news briefing, highlighting the city’s dedication to improving infrastructure and public services.
The projects cover many areas, including road building, drainage systems, drinking water facilities, and public space modernisation. Mayor Kumari emphasises that these measures are designed to meet the expanding requirements of Visakhapatnam residents while also fitting with the government’s ambition of developing a sustainable and smart urban ecosystem.
Green projects, such as establishing urban parks and large-scale tree-planting campaigns, have received a significant portion of the budget to mitigate the harmful effects of climate change. The development plan also includes critical infrastructure renovations, such as road expansion and enhanced sanitation systems, which are expected to reduce residents’ daily concerns.
“Our focus is on improving the quality of life for Visakhapatnam’s residents by prioritising projects that have a direct impact on their daily lives,” says Mayor Kumari. The GVMC has assured that all projects will adhere to stringent quality standards and adhere to set timelines to avoid delays, ensuring maximum efficiency and accountability.
This revelation comes as Visakhapatnam continues to grow as a centre of information technology, tourism, and industry. With the city’s expanding significance, these development projects are expected to considerably improve infrastructure and attract additional investment opportunities.
Residents and stakeholders have responded positively to the announcement, expressing hope about the city’s progressive goal. To ensure openness and effective execution, the GVMC has solicited comments from citizens, vowing to integrate their proposals whenever possible.
Once completed, these projects will transform Visakhapatnam into a more dynamic, sustainable, and inclusive city. The GVMC’s ambitious plans, which address key infrastructure shortages and promote green growth, are expected to pave the road for a brighter future for the City of Destiny.
