L&T wins CII Award for water management

The company received this recognition in the ‘Beyond the Fence’ category, which specifically recognised their excellent work in the L&T-implemented integrated community development Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in Devgaon, which is situated in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra.

L&T received the prestigious CII National Award for water management in 2023. DRDO and Member of NITI Aayog V K Saraswat, former DG, presented the award to Mabel Abraham, JGM of Corporate Social Initiatives at L&T, and Chetana Pathare, Manager of Corporate Social Initiatives.

The main objective of L&T’s comprehensive community development Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme is to strengthen rural communities in the targeted area that are under water stress. The principal objective is to promote water conservation practices by employing improved governance structures and capacity-building programmes. Through the implementation of these initiatives, the programme seeks to improve these communities’ general well-being while also mitigating the issues relating to water that they experience.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the CII Triveni Water Institute worked together to create the award, which highlights the recognition’s importance and legitimacy concerning India’s larger water management and corporate social responsibility landscape.

Anil Kakodkar, a former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, chaired the jury, which used a review process that was scientific, methodical, data-driven, and metric-focused throughout three rounds to choose the winners.
