PM Modi inaugurates Kochi Metro
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Kochi Metro on 17th Jun. In the first phase, trains will operate for a distance of 13 kms – Aluva to Palarivattom. There are 11 stations in the 13 km stretch that will be covered in approximately 20 minutes.
In its first phase with 11 stations from Aluva to Palarivattom. There are 2 lines in Kochi Metro. One line for the trains running from Aluva to Ernakulam direction and the other line for trains running from Ernakulam to Aluva direction.
Kochi Metro is also the county’s first fully integrated metro. With one ticket, a commuter can travel in feeder services along road and water. Also the metro has installed solar panels atop all stations to tap solar energy and once fully operational, the metro’s entire power demand will be met by these panels.
The north-south corridor of Bengaluru metro, also being inaugurated on the same day, is the part of the second longest metro network in the country after New Delhi.
