Rajasthan announces major highway projects at global summit

At the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Summit, Rajasthan reveals nine transformative road projects that aim at improving connectivity, economic growth, and long-term infrastructure development.

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, announces nine major road and highway projects totalling 800 kilometres for Rajasthan during the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024. Key projects are the Northern Jaipur Ring Road and the Jaipur-Kishangarh-Jodhpur to Amritsar Highway, which are expected to cost ₹ 30,000 crore.

Addressing the audience, Gadkari emphasises the transformative power of infrastructure in accelerating Rajasthan’s development, particularly through the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, which runs through tribal districts. “An efficient transport system is vital for investment flow, asset creation, and job generation,” he says.

The second day of the summit included a subject session called Infrastructure: An Important Link in the Supply Chain, which focused on logistical efficiency, sustainable expressway, and industrial zones near transportation networks. The discussions emphasise the necessity of strong infrastructure in generating economic growth and boosting operations across sectors

Jogaram Patel, Rajasthan’s Parliamentary Affairs Minister, highlights the critical importance of a well-developed road and logistical network in the state’s prosperity. Praveen Gupta, Principal Secretary, PWD, Rajasthan, states that logistics innovations had substantially boosted the state’s position in the industry.

Experts investigate techniques for integrating several forms of transport to improve logistics efficiency. They also address the importance of eco-friendly and sustainable highways in meeting environmental goals. Panellists advocated creating dedicated industrial zones strategically situated near transport lines to improve efficiency and scalability.

The seminar emphasises the symbiotic relationship between infrastructure and supply chains, emphasising how improvements in transport networks may promote industrial growth and sustainability. The Northern Jaipur Ring Road and the Jaipur-Kishangarh-Jodhpur to Amritsar Highway are projected to play important parts in economic development by boosting connectivity within and outside Rajasthan.

The summit demonstrates Rajasthan’s commitment to using infrastructure projects as a basis for economic growth, with an emphasis on developing a sustainable and efficient logistics ecosystem.
