Shyam Steel inaugurates fourth steel factory in West Bengal

Shyam Steel opened its fourth integrated steel factory at JSK-II, Purulia, West Bengal, with the honour of Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, being virtually present.

With a capital investment of ₹ 1,500 crore, the Raghunathpur steel plant has a strong 1.19 million metric tonnes per year of steel-making capability in phase 1. Rolling mills, steel melting shops, power plants, and DRI plants are all installed at this site. Its four integrated steel factories are located in Howrah, Mejia, Bamunara, and Durgapur.

Purushottam Beriwala, Director of Shyam Steel Industries, says, “This inauguration and expansion is intricately aligned with our overarching goal of enhancing capabilities and providing superior service to our valued customers.”

Lalit Beriwala, Director of Shyam Steel Industries, says, “With this plant, we are creating over 5,000 direct employment positions for skilled and unskilled workers across various departments such as production, maintenance, quality control, logistics, and administration in the backward district of Purulia.”

Construction on the 600-acre facility, which is located in the Jungle Sundari Karmanagari (previously known as Raghunathpur Industrial Park), began in April of last year. The goal of Shyam Steel is to double its revenue from ₹ 4500 crores to ₹ 9000 crores over the next two years, which highlights its growth-oriented attitude.

By 2030–31, Shyam Steel wants to produce 300 million metric tonnes of steel.
