Trimble introduces Tekla Structures 2025 with AI-driven tools

Tekla Structures 2025 enhances BIM workflows with AI-powered tools, improved communication features, and increased automation to ensure smooth construction operations.

Trimble® released the 2025 edition of Tekla® Structures, its flagship structural building information modelling (BIM) product. The latest edition includes AI-enabled tools for increasing productivity and more efficiently creating fabrication drawings. New and improved capabilities make it easier to develop, assemble, manage, and exchange information-rich 3D models in real time, allowing for model-based collaboration throughout the construction process.

Tekla Structures 2025 has expanded drawing automation capabilities, including new tools that improve the user experience while minimising rework, making it easier for users to satisfy company and regulatory drawing requirements.

AI cloud fabrication drawing service

The new AI Cloud Fabrication Drawing service, first introduced as a preview in Tekla Structures 2025, allows customers to create fabrication drawings using artificial intelligence. Without interfering with customers’ regular workflows, the preview feature offers an optional alternative way that can lessen the need for manual corrections.

AI-powered Trimble assistant for Tekla

A new AI-powered Trimble Assistant for Tekla is now available as an extension to the product and as a web app in Tekla User Assistance, a customer-centric product support system. It uses the Tekla User Assistance knowledge base to provide users with accurate and succinct answers to issues about Tekla products such as Tekla Structures, Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds, and Tekla PowerFab®.

Seamless model-based collaboration with project stakeholders

The Tekla PowerFab Connector functionality in Tekla Structures allows the detailer to submit packages for estimating, purchasing, and fabrication from Tekla Structures with a single click, connectivity to Tekla PowerFab steel fabrication management software. This ensures that material profiles, project statuses, and submittals are fully synchronised in real time, allowing detailers to obtain current information and direct input on submittals from fabricators. This lowers the need for RFIs and manual revisions, potentially improving project profitability for the detailing firm. For fabricators, this means less production waste and fewer ad hoc expensive material purchases.

Live collaboration

The Live Collaboration service allows users to work in the same model using either Trimble Connect® or Tekla Structures. This enables project stakeholders to conduct model-based progress reviews, which is a significant improvement over drawing-based procedures.

Tekla Structures 2025 offers better processes for both IFC and TrimBIM formats. Improved data interchange using the Trimble Connect common data environment and collaboration platform enables users to share only what is required for the task, enriching it with model data. This benefits all stakeholders by facilitating effective data flow and communication throughout the project’s lifecycle.

Field-to-Office integration and visibility

Tekla Structures’ new version includes improved integrations that will allow stakeholders in the office and on the field to collaborate more effectively. Users can interact in point clouds and 3D models without using local hardware resources thanks to integration with the Trimble Reality Capture platform service.

The redesign of the Layout Manager module in Tekla Structures 2025 improves the clarity of as-built checks from the site and gives accurate direction from the office, assuring both correctness and efficiency in project execution. These enhancements improve collaboration with project surveyors by combining model data with field operations.

Further enhancements for detailing efficiency

Tekla Structures 2025 features significant usability and efficiency enhancements in property panes and drawing properties dialogues, which improve the entire experience. The 2025 version also includes additional rebar detailing features such as Reinforcement Sequence Numbering in a pour or cast unit. These enhancements benefit both production processes and on-site activities, ensuring complete conformity with requirements. The expanded rebar detailing functionality significantly improves Rebar Sets, making them more suitable for a larger range of buildings, such as ramps or water drainage slabs with openings.

“Trimble fully embraces connected workflows as the key to building better, faster, safer, cheaper and greener,” says Oxana Kyllönen, product manager, Trimble. “Our Tekla portfolio centers around the concept of connecting multidisciplinary teams in construction around enriched BIM information. The 2025 version of Tekla Structures adds new layers of data quality and information flow for teams working with all materials and in all roles across the construction continuum, helping them to deliver with confidence.”
