Volvo CE’s Electric Solutions Excon 2023
At Excon 2023, the greatest construction equipment event in South Asia, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) India celebrated the largest display of electric machines in India, marking a key milestone in the company’s commitment to sustainability goals.
The company demonstrated its constant dedication to empowering customers and giving them the tools necessary to reach their productivity and sustainability goals by showcasing a wide selection of electric and other machinery along with cutting-edge service solutions.
In the areas of mining, material handling, steel, cement, and urban infrastructure, Volvo CE is spearheading the movement towards more environmentally friendly operations. With the first-ever commercial release of the EC500 Electric, the 50-ton class’s first grid-connected electric excavator in India, Volvo CE leads the way in the switch to zero-emission mining and construction equipment. Furthermore, the L120 Electric Wheel Loader, a pilot project that offers zero tailpipe emissions, nearly silent operation, and a more comfortable working environment for a range of indoor and outdoor applications, provided a glimpse into the future of material handling at ports, mines, plants, and other construction sites. EC80 Electric, an addition to its already existing compact EC55 Electric, used for urban construction and forestry, is also showcased as a near-production prototype. This innovative machine delivers superior performance with 6–8 hours of autonomy thanks to its bigger battery.
The DD40 and PT220 electric compactors, which were created and built in India, were presented as technological concepts. While the PT220 Electric is perfect for environmentally sensitive areas with strict emission regulations, guaranteeing cleaner and quieter construction operations, the DD40 Electric Compactor offers users the potential for up to 50 percent reductions in energy costs thanks to its advanced instrumentation, zero-emission operation, and dependable charging. These products demonstrate Volvo CE’s cutting-edge engineering expertise and commitment to locally produced, sustainable solutions for the Indian market, in keeping with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
“CII Excon 2023 is a crucial platform for demonstrating our unwavering commitment to shaping the future of construction. We stand at the forefront of an Indian earthmoving equipment market projected to reach a phenomenal 10-15 percent CAGR over the next five years. This surge is driven by the growing demand for clean technologies, perfectly aligning with Volvo CE India’s mission to be a catalyst for positive change. Our excavators, hauliers, wheel loaders, and other equipment cater to a diverse range of sectors, including construction, mining, infrastructure development, and material handling.” says Dimitrov Krishnan, Managing Director of Volvo CE India. “We go beyond offering products; we drive a paradigm shift with innovative electric solutions and comprehensive sustainability support. By making sustainable options accessible and desirable, we aim to leave a lasting legacy of positive change,” he added.
The EC210D, Volvo CE’s flagship 20-ton excavator that showcases productivity and performance, was also on display. Beyond electric innovation, Volvo CE is emphasising its dedication to bolstering client success with modern service solutions, including productivity, uptime, and equipment as a service. By removing concerns about high capital costs, skilled labour, and technology updates, the EaaS business model—a value-added, scalable service—unlocks the business potential of its customers and makes the transition to electric machines simpler. It does this by bundling cutting-edge machinery with efficiency measures.
Additionally, Volvo CE India provides clients with a full range of productivity services to help them along the way. Among them are machine configuration, training, smart assist solutions, and operator simulators. Clients also learn about the benefits of its uptime services, which include real-time tech help and automated system monitoring. For optimal uptime and peace of mind, Volvo CE customers can rely on professional technicians, authentic parts, and remanufactured components.
Volvo Construction Equipment is setting the standard for electric machinery that reduces the carbon footprint of our sector. Their services are centered on assisting clients in achieving increased profitability and productivity in their enterprises while gradually changing the construction equipment market as it currently exists.
