Ammann accelerates expansion by acquiring ABG Paver Business
Through strategic collaboration and the acquisition of Volvo CE’s ABG Paver Business, Ammann reinforces its commitment to offering comprehensive solutions, solidifying our position from asphalt plants to paving and compaction. This marks a significant step towards a future where our industry-leading expertise shapes the road ahead.
To enhance its product offerings, the Ammann Group has recently agreed to acquire Volvo Construction Equipment’s (Volvo CE) global ABG Paver Business. This acquisition, which encompasses ABG operations in Hameln, Germany, signifies a mutually beneficial collaboration between the two industry leaders.
The agreement, expected to be finalised in the first half of 2024, involves the transfer of Volvo CE’s paving businesses located in Linyi (China) and Bangalore (India), in addition to the ABG facility in Hameln (Germany). The transaction aligns with Volvo CE’s commitment to concentrating on sustainable solutions and future technologies, allowing them to focus on their strategic direction.
Hans-Christian Schneider, CEO of the Ammann Group, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, emphasising its potential to strengthen the company’s product portfolio and distribution network. He stated, “This strategic acquisition completes the depth of our product offerings and makes the solutions we offer customers more comprehensive.” Schneider highlighted that the acquisition positions Ammann as a provider of end-to-end solutions, covering everything from asphalt plants to paving and compaction.
Ammann, a renowned global supplier of mixing plants, machines, and services to the construction industry, is poised to leverage its industry knowledge and customer relationships to guide the development of the acquired paving business. The ABG facility in Hameln, Germany, is slated to become the Center of Excellence for paving operations within Ammann.
Customers and dealers of both Ammann and Volvo CE will continue to benefit from a full spectrum of paving offerings, as well as access to aftermarket services. The transaction, however, is contingent upon regulatory approvals and works council consultations.
Ammann, with its core expertise in roadbuilding and transportation infrastructure, has been a stalwart in the industry since 1869. This acquisition reflects the company’s commitment to expanding its capabilities and providing comprehensive solutions to meet the evolving needs of the construction sector. The move also underscores the dynamic nature of collaboration in the construction equipment industry as companies seek to enhance their competitive edge through strategic partnerships and acquisitions.
