HDIL commences works on Cyber City project at Kalamassery SEZ

Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited (HDIL), one of the largest real estate companies in India, has commenced the construction works of its dream project Cyber City, at Kalamassery (near Kochi), Kerala. The project will be promoted by Blue Star Realtors Pvt Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of HDIL, with an investment of approximately ` 2300 crore.
 
The project, which had received a complete special economic zone (SEZ) status from the central government, received a single window clearance from the state government, recently. The Cyber City project will house state-of-the-art built up space of about 10 million square feet in 70 acres land, at Kalamassery SEZ. According to reliable sources, seven million sq. ft. of the total built up area will be dedicated to IT infrastructure.
 
“Kochi has emerged as one of the top IT/ITeS commercial real estate destinations. HDIL Cyber City will be a catalyst to the economic growth of Kerala. The project is expected to generate 60,000 new direct jobs,” beamed Rakesh Kumar Wadhawan, Chairman, HDIL, announcing the commencement of construction works of Cyber City. Construction of the entire project is expected to require nine million man days, he added.
 
The entire design of HDIL Cyber City project will complement the green building concept. Buildings and structures will occupy only 20% of the space and the rest will comprise green spaces. No drainage will go out the project area and all the sewage will be treated internally. The project is designed to be completed in three phases and would include amenities like hospital, training school, shopping complex, multiplex and office space for IT companies. The residential component will also be developed simultaneously, said a company press release.
