What led to the inception of your firm and how has the journey been so far?
Initially, my art teacher in school – Jenson Anto taught me how to emote graphically. i.e; it is possible to evoke an emotion on paper which inspired me to become a sculptor and later a designer, hence I decided to pursue architecture. This passion for architecture finally led to the inception of Chromed Design Studios.

Architecture as a profession is undergoing a rampant change due to the advancement of technology that has affected several aspects of the profession. Constant challenges are arising due to extreme urbanization, reducing natural resources and climatic changes. It has to innovate and reinvent itself so as to keep in perspective the global challenges and consciously tread the path of sustainability, alternative technologies and environment friendly solutions. Hence, I as an architect like to constantly evolve and learn to formulate a better world for a living. I firmly believe, “The role of an architect today reaches beyond “building a building”, to offering a kaleidoscope of enrichment in varied fields.”

The practice is currently marching ahead with a vibrant team; each pursuing a distinctive value-based architectural spirit that Chromed Design Studio imbues.

You have executed numerous projects; let us know about a project which you believe defines a proper balance of form, function and aesthetics?
FIO Restaurant & Bar is one such project. It is situated in the midst of the biggest business hub of Delhi, below the Nehru Place metro station, we have created an ambience that could allow one to escape the crowd and enjoy some moments of tranquility. Bearing no resemblance to its existing restaurant at the Garden of Five Senses but maintaining a similar ideology, FIO establishes its unique stature with perfect organic, modern and warm ambience interwoven with lots of greenery for the promised delicacies of the brand name.

From the wooden pergola to the glass facade and finally to the wooden cubes stacked on the entire front walls, myriad layers seem to be unfolding as you enter the restaurant. The lighting throughout the restaurant has been designed to create a candlelight effect on each table that is controlled by a dimming system. In addition, to complete the space, industrial looking pendant lights made from metal and upholstery are suspended over the tables along the two walls. A combination of concrete and brass inlay on the floor is provided for elegance with a raw industrial twist.

What are some of the projects you are working on?
We are currently pursuing Snow World, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Images office, Ophelia – Ashoka Hotel, office in Kathmandu, United Coffee House, Chandigarh, Cyberhub Gurgaon Public Space Activation, Social Noida, INOX at multiple locations.
