Marble is a highly durable and long-lasting flooring material

Marble can be used in high-temperature regions and also is resistant to fire. In addition, marble undergoes various processes to increase its durability, before it arrives in the shops, says Ramesh Bhandari, Director, A-Class Marble.

What according to you are some of the timeless methods of flooring which continue till date?
Marble in any form appears to be a timeless material. When it comes to the selection of flooring methods that continue even today, then the elegant classical pattern and chequered pattern add royalty and elegance to any space. To add diversity, the chequered pattern is combined with a metal or diamond motif to take the classy look to a whole new level. Multiple materials and colours in different rooms, transform the entire house into timeless art.

Are they useful in the contemporary urban framework as well?
The classical and chequered patterns add a touch of royalty and luxury to any space. Just as the durability of the marble is given priority, the look that is never out of trend is also planned accordingly. Additionally, the contemporary age demands a stylish and sophisticated look that is a visual feast to the eyes.

When it comes to robust flooring, what kind of flooring material or design will you advise?
When we look at flooring in terms of durability, marble is highly durable and long-lasting. It can be used in high-temperature regions and also is resistant to fire. In addition, marble undergoes various processes to increase its durability, before it arrives in the shops. These include the resin treatment process to ensure there are no cracks that increase the stone’s longevity; and the Densifier technique, where it goes through a water- based treatment to keep away the dirt. All these things ensure durable and robust marble floors which we, A-Class Marble, aim to provide to our clients.

Likewise, if one wants the floor design to make a statement of sorts and ensure it reflects a certain degree of ostentation, what kind of flooring would you advise?
Marble is a versatile material, and so it can be applied to a lot of spaces in your interiors as well as exteriors. Adding texture with marble to your design can uplift your interiors to create a luxe ambience. Using marble in bathrooms not just on the floors but also on the ceiling is one of the trending ways to use it nowadays. For floors, Marble inlay, book matching and chequered flooring are the most trending ways that add that grandeur to space. You can either go for more ‘natural’ shades, such as white or deep grey or find a marble with elements of pink, yellow, green, black, grey and gold veining running through it to add that pop of colour to your interiors.
