Nitin Gadkari lays foundation stones for National Highway projects

Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, today used a video conference in Shri Jagannath Puri to officially launch 28 National Highway projects, totalling ₹ 6,600 crore, to improve connectivity for the prosperity of Odisha.

Among those in attendance at the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony were Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokesperson Sambit Patra, Members of Parliament, legislators, and other authorities.

The National Highway-16’s Chandikhol to Bhadrak stretch, which has six lanes, and the National Highway-49’s Baharagora-Singhra portion, which has four lanes, were both officially launched today. Both fuel and travel time will be saved by these developments. Enhanced accessibility to east coast ports will lead to a rise in industrial activity.

The groundwork for 26 large-scale projects has also been prepared to give Odisha a fresh lease on life. In addition, thirteen more projects are beginning work. Odisha’s economic development will pick up steam once these projects are finished. Devotees travelling to Shri Jagannath Dham and Konark Temple will also arrive on schedule and safely. Odisha’s connectivity to neighbouring states would strengthen. There will be easier port access for mining and raw materials. This will increase business activity. With the railway bridge being built, travel will be quick and safe.
