Steelcast raising plant capacity; eyes higher exports

Gujarat-based Steelcast Ltd., one of the leading steel castings manufacturers is raising its plant capacity by 8,000 tonnes by October to take total capacity to 30,000 tonnes at its current location at Bhavnagar.
The company has invested more than Rs. 100 crore so far in raising its capacity from 10,000 tonnes to 30,000 tonnes in last three years. Last year, the company had invested around Rs. 45 crore while this fiscal it will be investing another Rs. 23 crore.
Elaborating on company’s strategy, Chetan Tamboli, Chairman and MD, Steelcast said, “With this brown-field capacity expansion being over by October 2013, we will be one of the few companies in the world making niche product for mining and construction equipment companies worldwide.”
Mr Tamboli added that increase in capacity will bring in economies of scale and improved product quality through state-of-art facilities matching any world class Steel Foundry; thereby making company’s product more competitive.  “With increased capacity, we are also eyeing higher export share as we believe that from 2015 onwards,” he adds.
